PLC-INTERFACE Relay with Circuit Breaker

Phoenix Contact's relay solution combines a dual relay interface and electronic fuse protection

Image of Phoenix Contact's PLC-INTERFACE Relay with Circuit BreakerPhoenix Contact's PLC-INTERFACE is a relay with an integrated PLC-CB circuit breaker, combining a relay interface and electronic fuse protection in a slim width of 6.2 mm. Fully compatible with the product series, this solution is ideal for new and retrofit installations. Status messages are conveyed via multicolored LEDs (green indicates OK, yellow indicates the current is ≥80% of the set nominal current, and red indicates an error), and an active diagnostic output (FB terminal) provides a reliable status message to the higher-level control system.

The nominal current and shutdown behavior can be configured via DIP switches on the device. The current settings range from 1 A to 6 A and are controlled by DIP switches labeled 1, 2, and 4. Multiple DIP switches can be used simultaneously and their values are summed (1 and 4 being switched on sets the nominal current to 5 A). The shutdown behavior has two options including fuse mode and hiccup mode. In fuse mode, the device will trip when the current threshold is exceeded. After a trip, the device can be manually restarted by resetting the relay. After a trip in hiccup mode, the device will attempt to start five times with five seconds in between. The device can be restarted by resetting the relay. The graphs compare the Type B trip curve in fuse mode and Type D trip curve in hiccup mode, which is much slower.
