Within the host audio decoder’s two modes, there are unique features to each. The simplest usage of the IC without a microcontroller is Mode 1. Mode 2, using an external microcontroller, will allow for more rich and complex features such as direct tune selection and ID3 tag identification. Note that in previous versions, direct tune selection was available in Mode 3. All future ICs will have the functions of Mode 3 integrated in Mode 2.
