Automotive Ethernet Compatible 1GBase-T MagJack® ICM

Bel Magnetic Solutions presents a first of its kind 1GBase-T MagJack ICM designed for next-generation vehicles that utilize Ethernet signaling inside the automobile. This series is SAE/USCAR2-6 compatible with vibration and sealing requirements.

The automotive Ethernet MagJack is IEEE 802.3bp rated, UL recognized, and RoHS 6/6 compliant. This integrated connector is also low profile, low halogen, and ideally suited for automotive Ethernet applications like infotainment, driver-assist radar, and cameras, along with media converters and gateways. To support high-temperature applications, the automotive Ethernet MagJacks have an operating temperature of +100°C.

Ethernet is both faster in transmission speed and lighter in cable weight which is driving innovation and cost reductions in next-generation vehicles. Next-generation autonomous vehicles need the expanded processing speed that Ethernet can bring into the vehicle to link all the new electronic systems these cars need to operate without a human driver. The automobile industry is moving to incorporate Ethernet signaling and cabling styles to replace the existing CAN bus signaling used today.
