RF directionele koppelingen zijn ontworpen om een specifieke hoeveelheid elektromagnetisch vermogen in een transmissielijn te koppelen aan een secundaire lijn waardoor het signaal in een ander circuit kan worden gebruikt. De koppelingstypen zijn koppeling met filter, dual-band-dual path en standaard met frequenties variërend van DC tot 40 GHz.
