Renesas Acquires Dialog Semiconductor

On August 30, 2021, Renesas officially acquired Dialog Semiconductor. The combination of the Renesas portfolio of advanced semiconductor solutions with Dialog’s power management, charging, AC/DC power conversion, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® low energy (BLE) technology will bring immediate benefits to customers with more complete solutions being available. For example, as a result of the acquisition, Renesas announced 30 new “Winning Combinations” that showcase both the Renesas embedded processing products with the Dialog portfolio.

Initially, five “Winning Combinations” are being featured. These include:

  • 100 W Adaptor with Power Delivery & Wireless Charger

A 100 W power delivery (PD) adapter that is a multi-functional solution that can support 65 W maximum PD output, BC1.2 fast charging, QI 15 W wireless charging, as well as two 5 V 2.1 A USB-A ports.

  • Smart Asset Tracking Label

This smart tracking label provides a method of container and device tracking that provides environmental data during transit. The tracking can report a container's or device's presence via Bluetooth® 5.1 at a depot or through a tablet or mobile phone application.

  • Smart Connected Pulse Oximeter

This pulse oximeter is a small electronic device that measures an individual's oxygen saturation level or the oxygen levels in the blood.

  • Smart ToF based Rangefinder with Mobile App

A smart rangefinder solution incorporating the ISL29501 time of flight (ToF) sensor IC that is easy to design and control, while also achieving accurate wide-range distance measurement.

  • Smart Lock with Super Low Power Wi-Fi and BLE

This smart lock solution features fingerprint control, low-power Bluetooth®, and low-power Wi-Fi options.

Additional “Combinations” feature products in the Appliance, Automotive, Building Safety & Security, Communications, Computing & Data Center, Factory Automation and Control, Fitness and Health, Grid Communications, HVAC Systems, Medical, Motor Drives, Network Communications, and Wearables markets.
