Over zekeringen

Zekeringen zijn fundamentele circuitbeveiligingen die worden gebruikt in auto's en elektronische systemen om bedrading en componenten te beschermen tegen overstroom, overbelasting en kortsluiting. Onder normale omstandigheden stroomt er stroom door een gekalibreerd metalen element dat is ontworpen voor een specifieke nominale waarde. Wanneer de stroom die limiet overschrijdt, als gevolg van kortsluiting, inschakelstroom of aanhoudende overbelasting, wordt het element warm en smelt het, waardoor het circuit permanent wordt geopend. Omdat de meeste zekeringen niet herinstelbaar zijn, moeten ze na gebruik worden vervangen. Ze bieden snelle, betrouwbare bescherming voor zowel laag- als hoogspanningscircuits.

Gangbare formaten zijn mini-, low-profile mini-, ATO/ATC- en maxi-zekeringen. De selectie moet overeenkomen:

Stroomsterkte (nooit te groot)
Fysiek formaat (past in zekeringblok)
Derating van omgevingstemperatuur (hoge temperaturen onder de motorkap verlagen de effectieve capaciteit)
Belastingsgedrag (gelijkmatige vs. piekbelaste circuits) met behulp van tijd-stroomselectiecurven
Selectie en gedrag van PCB-/SMD-zekeringen

In elektronische circuits beschermen SMD-zekeringen laagspannings-printplaatsporen en componenten. De juiste selectie hangt af van:

Nominale stroom en spanning

Snelwerkende vs. tijdvertraagde respons
Derating van omgevingstemperatuur (hete borden verminderen de zekeringscapaciteit)
Overspanningstolerantie met behulp van tijd-stroomcurves van de fabrikant

Deze factoren zorgen ervoor dat de zekering normale stroomstoten overleeft, maar onder echte storingsomstandigheden opengaat zonder de printplaat te beschadigen.

Controlelijst voor probleemoplossing en vervanging

Storing bevestigen
Verlies van circuitfunctie controleren
Controleer met een multimeter de continuïteit (vertrouw niet alleen op visuele inspectie)
Controleer op de hoofdoorzaak
Controleer op parasitaire stroomafname (onverwacht stroomlek)
Controleer de bedrading op kortsluiting of overbelastingsbronnen
Controleer de contactintegriteit van de zekeringhouder (losse, gecorrodeerde of door warmte beschadigde aansluitingen).
Vervang correct
Gebruik de exacte stroomsterkte
Gebruik de juiste fysieke grootte en het juiste type
Gebruik het juiste reactietype (snel vs. tijdvertraagd)

Als een vervangende zekering onmiddellijk doorbrandt, is de storing nog steeds aanwezig en moet deze worden opgelost voordat het circuit weer onder spanning wordt gezet.
