Een common-mode-smoorspoel is een elektrisch filter dat hoogfrequente ruis blokkeert die gemeenschappelijk is voor twee of meer gegevens- of stroomleidingen, terwijl het gewenste DC- of laagfrequente signaal wordt doorgelaten. Common mode (CM)-ruisstroom wordt meestal uitgestraald door bronnen zoals ongewenste radiosignalen, niet-afgeschermde elektronica, omvormers en motoren. Ongefilterd achtergelaten, levert deze ruis interferentieproblemen op in elektronica en elektrische circuits.
