TM4C129x LCD Controller Slide 10

The LCD Interface Display Driver Mode is based on the concepts of sending serial image data or otherwise to an external display device. The image data still resides in SRAM and the LCD screen now needs commands and data, not RGB signals or HSYNC/VSYNC signals. In LIDD mode, the LCD controller is pretty much replacing SPI, I2C, or some other serial peripheral. Depending on the display, the MCU may need to read data back from the LCD screen so each exchange of data is bi-directional. The LCD DMA engine can still be used to load commands/data into the SRAM buffer. The customer will need to configure the LCD DMA engine to read the commands which will be sent to the display.
