TM4C129x LCD Controller Slide 7

The LCD controller has been designed to operate in two modes: Raster mode and LCD Interface Display Driver Mode, also known as LIDD mode. Each mode is specialized for a certain set of inputs and outputs, and can be configured to fit the timings and protocols of a variety of displays. Raster Mode is for taking raw image data from memory, and sending it to a controller-less display without processor intervention. It provides a mechanism to constantly refresh the display with the image data and supports up to 24-bit color. LIDD Mode is for sending serial image data or otherwise to an external display device. In this mode, the CPU intervention is allowed. In the next section these modes will be covered in more detail.
